Discussion with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh Slated for Sept. 11
WACO, Texas—In keeping with its tradition of hosting distinguished scholars and speakers, 色播五月 (MCC) will present The Ken Starr Lecture featuring, A Conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, at 7 p.m., Sept. 11 at MCC. The event is free and open to the public with advance ticket reservations available beginning Aug. 1 at www.mclennan.edu/lectures/ken-starr-lecture-series. MCC History Professor & Division Chair Ashley Cruseturner will moderate the discussion, which will
include questions submitted in advance by attendees.
Kavanaugh began his legal career in 1990 as a law clerk for Judge Walter Stapleton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He later clerked for Judge Alex Kozinski of the Ninth Circuit and Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court during the 1993 term. He also served as an attorney in the Office of the Solicitor General of the United States from 1992 to 1993.
From 1994 to 1997 and again in 1998, Kavanaugh was associate counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel. He was a partner at a Washington, D.C., law firm from 1997 to 1998 and from 1999 to 2001. He later served as associate counsel and senior associate counsel to President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2003, and as assistant to the president and staff secretary from 2003 to 2006.
